The economic downturn is a challenging reality and museums need to strengthen their business models, diversify their income streams and look at new ways of encouraging private giving and supporting enterprise. But this can be a daunting task.
Doing the best you can is the first in a series of events which address the issue of fundraising and philanthropy, and has been designed to spark ideas, share knowledge and develop confidence. Through case studies and facilitated conversations, participants will share top tips and explore how to prioritise their fundraising efforts to maximize effect. Discussions will include an overview of key areas including:
the differentiation between capital, activity, unrestricted, purchase and endowment fundraising
grants (from HLF, trusts, foundations, government)
individual giving, Friends schemes and endowments
capital and activity - fundraising and projects
unrestricted funding and how to increase it
enabling trustees and volunteers to lead and support fundraising
This session is free of charge and ASPIRE will pay for reasonable costs of delegate’s travel. Places are limited and will be given on a first-come-first-served basis.
Participants are invited to arrive from 10.30 for coffee. The day will start promptly at 11.00 and will include a networking lunch. We aim to finish the day by 15.30.
