Darkened but not dormant: Oxford University Museum of Natural History closes during 2013 for essential roof work

The Museum of Natural History is closed to the public throughout 2013 to carry out much needed and long overdue roof repairs.  The glass tiles on the roof have leaked rainwater into the museum's galleries for many years - visitors may recall seeing carefully positioned buckets atop display cases to catch the worst of it.

12 December 12 -- jsuess

We’re asking the public why they visit museums, what stops them from visiting, and what would make them visit more.

Oxfordshire residents are being asked for their views on the county’s museums.

Oxford ASPIRE – a consortium of the Oxford University Museums and the Oxfordshire County Council Museums Service – have launched an open survey to discover what local residents think of their local museums.

This December we launched our ASPIRE E-Newsletter.  Targeted at museum professionals, it will share events, resources and opportunities, plus key news stories from the ASPIRE Museums.

The first issue features a summary of our first ASPIRE event, a digital roundtable for museum professionals, plus information on the new "behind the scenes" videos produced by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
