THIS YEAR WE'VE HAD

  • 1.8 million visitors through our doors
  • Delivered free education session sto 120,000 school students
  • Engaged 27,000 children and 50,000 adults in on site activities
  • Engaged 10,000 children & young people & 8,000 adults in outreach
  • Offered 10,000 volunteer hours to 1,200 volunteers
  • 2.3 million people visited 14 million web pages
  • Provided training to 1,000 teachers
  • Loaned 7,500 objects to 700 venues

AUDIENCE EVALUATION

We've invested in visitor surveying kiosks in all our Museums, a non-user survey of Oxfordshire residents, and new pilot audience evaluation in partnership with Morris Hargreaves McIntyre at the Ashmolean.

AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT HIGHLIGHTS

ASHMOLEAN LIVE FRIDAYS monthly themed late night openings at the Ashmolean,  “An Evening with the Gods” & “Musical Technologies”

KEATON HENSON the Museum of the History of Science hosted two sell out concerts from the cult singer-songwriter as part of his 2013 Museums Tour

ON THE ROAD the Natural History education team is on the road conducting outreach with schools not traditionally able to visit the museum, piloting sessions on Skeletons, Erosion, Rocks & Minerals

IMPROVING ACCESS the Pitt Rivers developed new digital resources for visitors with visual and hearing impairments

BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK a week long programme of engaging events at the Museum of the History of Science in collaboration with Oxford Neuroscience and the Wellcome Trust

AFTER HOURS new early evening openings at the Pitt Rivers for those seeking a child-free encounter with the collections

EXPLORING BANBURY TOWN a new sound trail for Banbury based on reminiscence memories produced by Banbury Museum

REIMAGINING THE GLOBE led by the Museum of the History of Science, schools, volunteers & visitors creating their own globes as a community exhibition response to the Renaissance Globe Project

MEIJI TEXTILE EXHIBITION & CATALOGUE the Ashmolean collaborated with Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum, Japan on the exhibition & catalogue

THE BIG STITCH this Ashmolean event, held in collaboration with the Embroiderers Guild, saw 5,000 members of the public get crafty

DIGITAL SWITCH ON the Museum of the History of Science hosted BBC Oxford, Jack FM & Heart FM for a day of simultaneous broadcasting as Culture Minister Ed Vaisey switched on digital radio for Oxon

CHILDREN IN NEED the Pitt Rivers education team worked with Fusion Art to deliver workshops for children with speech and language difficulties, funded by Children in Need

MORRIS MOTORS CENTENARY the city and county museums are collaborating on a series of reminiscence events to mark the centenary of Morris Motors manufacture in Oxford
